Reverend Cameron Treece
Senior Pastor 

 

Cam has been an ordained minister in the South Carolina Conference for 15 years.   Previous appointments include pastor of the Liberty/Bethlehem Charge in Pickens County, and Minister of Evangelism and Outreach Ministries at Shandon United Methodist Church in Columbia, SC.  Currently he serves as Senior Pastor of St. Matthew and has been here since 2004.   He graduated from Duke Divinity School in 1994 and Presbyterian College in 1989.  He and wife Cari have been married for 19 years and have three children, ages 14, 12, and 10.  Cam’s favorite things to do are reading, hiking, rafting, weightlifting, and occasionally attending a hair-band concert.  The book he is currently reading is Jesus Laughed: The Power of Redemptive Humor by Robert Darden.  Least favorite foods include Mexican and Sushi.  Please never invite him to Tako Sushi.  Favorite movies include Rocky I, II, III, IV, and VI, Talladega Nights, STAR WARS, Lord of the Rings, and The Matrix. His primary vision of the church can be found in Acts 2:46-47.    


Rebecca Griffeth
Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries
 
Rebecca has a B.S. degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a Minor in Early Childhood Education from Winthrop University. While in college, she served as a member of AmeriCorps at Communities in Schools.  She then attended Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University where she received her Masters of Church Ministries. Rebecca also studied Wesleyan Theology at Cambridge University in England. She has held positions at First UMC in Richardson, TX, Belmont UMC in Nashville, TN and Shandon UMC in Columbia, SC.  She currently serves the annual conference as a member of the SC Children’s Council. Rebecca is a member of the local and national Christian Educators Fellowship and is a consultant to the United Methodist Publishing House.
 
Ruth McDaniel
Director of Music Ministries

 

Ruth McDaniel came to St. Matthew in 2005 via Charlotte N.C., where she previously served as music director for the contemporary services at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church. She holds a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Winthrop University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, from Converse College. She believes in being involved in the local arts community, and appears on both the theatrical and concert stage here in Greenville. She is also a songwriter and arranger.  Closest to Ruth’s heart is sharing her love of God within the music she sings and directs. “There’s a level of worship from music and prayer that really draws us closer together, and closer to God.”
